Let Your Baby be the Bean in Your Pod
Confession: I’ve never been able to wear a pouch sling. They just don’t fit me right. Something about there not being enough room for both a baby and my boobs. I love me a ring sling, though, and have found another great one to share with you.
Baby Bean is a mom-run business out of Hong Kong that makes some super cool jewelery that we can’t get it we’re not in Hong Kong and the Bean Pod sling that’s available worldwide. I was sent the the orange and brown dots for review and love it. Not only is it super cute, but it’s SO light & airy. 100% cotton is the way to go if you’re carrying a child in the heat. It’s 30+ degrees here right now and there’s no sweating. Well, no extra carrier-induced sweating, anyway.
They’re padded on the shoulder to cushion the weight of the baby and reduce the strain on the carrier’s shoulder, and even with my 25 lb kids it’s pretty darn comfortable. One side of the sling is sewn in green thread to make it easy to know which side to pull/release in order to adjust the tension of the sling. It comes in a pouch which is equipped with a clip that can be easily hooked on the rings or the eye inside the shoulder pad for easy access of keys, wallets, or soothers. Quite brilliant, I’d say! The rings are no-weld constructed solid aluminum and are tested to hold up to 250 pounds. If you’re carrying someone that heavy, you’ve got bigger problems than your carrier holding.

I would absolutely LOVE the Green-Purple Dots sling! I have never tried a ring sling before but I am unfortunately not using my wonderful pouch one much because I am having your problem “Something about there not being enough room for both a baby and my boobs”. After baby #4 I have not lost the pregnancy weight and now that my baby is 9 months we’re getting pretty snug in the pouch!

Oh, the red flowers are simple and pretty. I’ve never tried this sort of sling before, either. Looks lovely and easy!

Camouflage for my hunter boys. Although the orange and brown look cool together also. I had a ring sling made from a lady I know, but she made it to big and I couldn’t use it. It’s like a tease because I really wanted to “wear my last baby”, but it didn’t work out that way (yet…..)

Oh, the Red Flower sling is lovely and crisp looking! I’d love to try a ring sling – wraps and mei tais are great, but a ring sling looks like it would be simpler for the early months.

our ring slings are showing wear & tear from years of use, so we would like one in camouflage. My husband would feel that his masculinity would be threatened by the other prints!

The brown and orange is my favorite. I love brown paired with any other color. I like the design of this sling and believe it will work better for me. I cant seem to wear the sling i got for my baby shower I have tried multiple times both baby and i get upset

The green & purple dot sling looks great!
My husband and I work from home, so slinging our newborn would be great! Now finding the right baby carrier that works for us has been a challenge.
We have tried a baby bjorn look-alike and a Infantano Sling Rider. Neither fit her comfortably.
Our next step is the ring sling. She is over 12lbs/23″ (lanky). My husband is a medium everything and I am a hippy XL.
A local resale shop is selling custom slings for close to $50. They are beautifully made and have little helpful features such as a built in Velcro self-storage pouch that doubles as a “hidden” pocket, and a tail (part that dangles off the sling ring at the shoulder) with long and somewhat narrow quilted slots (reinforced to lay flat and not easily bang around or twist up) for small bottles, toys, tissues, teething toys, pacifiers, etc…
