Stay Alert, Stay Safe
August is the month with the highest number of births according to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), and plenty of soon-to-be mommies are busy “nesting” and preparing for their long-awaited bundles of joy.
In addition to all the pink or blue decorations, new parents have plenty of home safety precautions to check off their lists. A a reminder to all of you to check over your home for some very important & potentially lifesaving safety items (whether you’re having a baby or not!), we’re giving away a great “Security Blanket” kit from First Alert® that’s filled with essential tools to help you keep your family safe.
The winner will receive First Alert Tundra™ Fire Extinguishing Spray (this looks so cool! and way easier than an extinguisher!), a First Alert SA710 Photoelectric Sensor Smoke Alarm, a First Alert CO 400 Battery-operated Carbon Monoxide Alarm, a Cordzilla bungee-like stretch rope to secure items in closets or garages (super cool!) and a Crawford Duramount Multi-purpose Arm Hook to safely store strollers or other heavy objects in a storage room or garage.
To enter to win this kit valued at over $100, leave a comment on this post before noon this Friday (July 31, 2009).

These sure would come in handy and it looks very nice to have to set our minds at ease that the babies are sleeping safe and/or can crawl arround without having the tupperware all over the place or the cans of food out of the pantry ;=) My husband just finished painting the new baby room and has to replace some of the fire sensors so I googled for some deals and this is where I ended up. I especially love the carbon monoxide alarm. It’s a must have, good luck to all.

July 29th, 2009 at 8:04 pm
I think this is great-how many people start out right? smoke detectors in most if not all the rooms, then things happen. You move them, batteries dead, they break, etc. Fire ext.- they get old, you move them too, I put the one we had on our boat. Boat is safe, but we will burn. It is too bad that smoke detectors are not like a give away and the batteries too! These are the type of things that congress should give away instead of alot of the pork belly crap that goes through.
July 29th, 2009 at 11:03 pm
I hate our current smoke detector (my husband and I argue about this all the time!) and our carbon monoxide detector is about 10 years old. So I’d love to upgrade our products and feel safer. Thanks.

July 30th, 2009 at 11:38 pm
We have a couple of smoke alarms, but I would love to have a carbon monoxide alarm. One reason is we have a very old gas furnace, and I worry that if the chimney gets blocked or something, we could all die in our sleep in winter. My other concern is that we live in hurricane country, and though we’ve always taken care to run the generator outdoors and only during the day, carbon monoxide is definitely a danger when we have to use it.
