Perfect Cards For You (whether you’re a card maven or a junky dollar store junkie)
I love greeting cards. I’m one of those people who saves them in a special box to look though as the years pass (provided someone has actually written something in them, but that’s a whole ‘nother post) or scrapbooks them for special occasions. When is a card even better than a card? When you can record a personal message in it! Hallmark’s recordable cards with music, which we’ve told you about before, continue to be our favourite cards to give to those extra special people, and now they’re available for Mother’s Day & Father’s Day too. Watch this video to see the cards in action. All you have to do is press and hold a button inside the card, record your message (and you can try as many times as you need to get it just right) and mail it. When the card is opened by your special someone, your message will introduce the song. I would absolutely love to have one of these from my kids. Do you think it would be a clear enough hint for me to buy the card & leave it on my husband’s night table, or would I need to add instructions on a post it note?
Big news! Hallmark has recently released a new 99 cent line of cards and, honestly, I have no idea why they’re only 99 cents. You know the cheap crap cards that you get at the dollar store, right? The ones you can almost see through with cheesy flowers and grotesque poetry? Well, these have them beat by a penny and are the same great quality as your standard $2-$5 dollar card. Maybe a little smaller, but totally not a dollar store card. I’ll admit to buying cheapies, since most people toss them straight from the envelope into the recycling bin, but from now on I’ll be heading over to the Hallmark store for these babies. Who knew frugal didn’t have to look cheap?
Hallmark cards are available almost everywhere – Click the link to find a store in your area.
Win it! We’ve got a selection of Hallmark recordable cards (mother’s day, father’s day and more) and also a huge random selection from the 99 cent line to send to one randomly selected reader. Leave a comment on this post before noon mst on May 11, 2009.

I love cards. If I were younger and just starting out, I would love to be a greeting card designer/writer (if I had the talent, of course). Now that we are retired, and cash is not too abundant, I find that sending a “perfect” greeting card to friends and relatives can be just as important as buying a gift that they may never use or want. The old saying ” it’s the thought that counts” really does apply. The right words can change a person’s attitude or mood.

May 4th, 2009 at 11:52 am
Being a man, I hardly bought cards except for the usual special occasions
such as my wife’s birthday, Mother’s Day, etc. I never liked to spend $4 for a card and those Dollar Store cards sometimes looks like it’s worth only a buck or less. Until I discover this terrific online greeting card company that allows you to choose from 13,000 cards in which you can type in your personal message and then press “Send”. The company will then print the card, stuff it, stamp it, and mail it the next day for under a dollar plus postage. In the past year I sent out 300, in other words, whenever I feel a prompting. My friends appreciates this simply yet inexpensive gesture.

I think the voice record cards are really cool. It’s nice to be able to send a sentiment in your own voice.
May 10th, 2009 at 6:02 pm
I love to send and get cards! Electronic messages are easy, but they can be so impersonal. Nothing’s like a handwritten note to make you feel special, especially just to say ‘I’m thinking about you’. That somebody took the time to write it and put a stamp on it and take it to the mailbox can really make your day!

I love these recordable cards. Our family is scattered all over the place and being able to send a ‘cheery thought’ whether it is a special day or just a regular one is so much fun. Add in the message being in my own (or better yet – my kids) voice and the cheery thought becomes a cherished memento.
