American Heroes #3 – Music and a History Lesson All Rolled Into One
NAPPA and Parent Choice award-winning artist Jonathan Sprout’s latest release American Heroes #3 is, as one would presume, full of songs about American…um…heroes. Though I’m solidly Canadian, we actually learn a decent amount of American history up here. (In our igloo schools). The third in the American Heroes series, A.H.#3 is packed with fun & upbeat songs about some America’s finest. Like Pocahontas – I learned a lot listening to this CD. Music and a history lesson all rolled into one makes for kids who actually remember the content after the test. This would be great in a classroom! It’s not all serious though. Tunes like “Chocolate King” about Milton Hershey offer up some education and an equally large dose of entertainment. The songs all have great hooks that reel kids in & make the lyrics memorable. Think we can convince him to come north for a while and make one for us Canucks? Contrary to popular belief, we can actually be interesting!
Win it! We’ve got a copy to give away to one lucky reader who comments before noon mst on Friday, May 1, 2009.

This could be interesting for our boys. I strongly believe that not all children learn the same, and music is an excellent way to teach certain subjects. Well, maybe some more then others.

Thanks for your kind words about my new CD! I appreciate your help in getting the word out. And, you know… I love travelling to other countries and consider myself a citizen of the world as much as a citizen of the US. The drive for me to write these songs is more in the teaching of character than in the teaching of American history. It’s my deam to someday branch out into writing about others around the world. Thanks!
