Gustafer Yellowgold is Back, and He’s Got Mellow Fever.

The newest Gustafer Yellowgold DVD/CD set, Gustafer Yellowgold’s Mellow Fever is gracing our children’s screen this week. It’s been over a year since we reviewed the last Gustafer set and he as crazy (and phallic. Did you notice that?) as ever.

This set features guest artists Lisa Loeb and Wilco’s John Stirratt & Pat Sansone. Written by Ohio native illustrator/songwriter Morgan Taylor, Mellow Fever contains more adventures of Gustafer Yellowgold – a yellow dude who hails from the sun. Yes, the sun. Each song on the DVD is “accompanied by a series of hand-drawn, minimally animated illustrations set to melodic and catchy tunes ranging from mellow acoustic to crackling-pop.” I’m being totally honest when I say this Gustafer guy is a trip. Like the Cheshire cat, it seems unreasonable that someone who was not on drugs could have dreamed up such a character (sorry, Morgan!) but every kid who has seen it on at our place absolutely loves it.

It will officially be released on March 17th and is now available for preorder from Amazon.
