Groovy Girls – Great Dolls For Great Girls
I’ve been known to rag on many of the toys around these days for their, um…hooker-like qualities. There are enough influences teaching our daughters that beauty & boobs are more important than brains & heart without their toys adding to the mix.
That said, little girls love their dolls.
Enter Groovy Girls. Available from the Manhattan Toy online shop, Groovy Girls are not just models – they’re role models. The RSVP line embraces the valued of respect, self-expression, values and play – the core ideas that serve as the foundation for the Groovy Girls line. The Groovy Girls RSVP dolls come complete with a special password into an online community where girls can create virtual dolls, customize a play space, change into hundreds of customized glamorous outfits, interact via chat and more. All of this online play allows the girls to earn points toward making a doll donation to another child in need.
Groovy Girls are intended for girls aged three and up, and they’re dolls that even a toy stickler such as myself is happy to buy for my child and any other girl I’m buying for. They’re soft dolls with stiff yarn-like hair (that, incidentally, looks much better than mine ever will) and, most importantly, the clothes are incredibly fashionable & fun while still being modest decidedly un-hooker-like.
It just doesn’t get better than that. (When it comes to dolls, anyway.)
Win it! We’re giving away an awesome prize package that includes one of each of the eight dolls and give pets currently available! To enter, leave a comment on this post before noon mst on November 24, 2008.

November 18th, 2008 at 8:28 am
I really like that there is a doll dressed modestly yet cute with so many accesories!
November 18th, 2008 at 8:42 am
Have to agree with the “hooker like qualities”, I think Bratz are the worst! Great giveaway!
November 18th, 2008 at 8:49 am
Wow! Those are groovy dolls. I also appreciate the non “hookerness” of them. That’s a hard thing to find. But I also like that they are fabric- much more huggable than a barbie. I’m so impressed with the diversity of the dolls (not just race, but also individual expression- I mean Ruby Mae and Raina are two pretty different styles but both look really cool).
November 18th, 2008 at 8:49 am
These dolls are really neat. I think my daughter would really enjoy them.
November 18th, 2008 at 8:55 am

November 18th, 2008 at 11:13 am
Finally someone gets it and is making a line of dolls that parents might actually like to see their girls – and boys – playing with. I’m appalled at some of the clothing choices available for the fashion dolls. These dolls are an excellent alternative.
November 18th, 2008 at 11:18 am
I think these dolls are great for such a big age range and they are cute without being sleazy. My 2 1/2 yr old would LOVE them!
November 18th, 2008 at 11:52 am

I agree with you about the hooker-like dolls. There are too many of them out there. Little girls grow up quickly enough without having those types of dolls help them do it faster. This is the first time I’ve seen these dolls and have to say that I’m very impressed. Another feature is that they are washable. Great product!

Our whole family has agreed to keep our granddaughters “little girls” as they are so young, and the Groovy Girl dolls are perfect…so huggable and happy looking! There are some dolls that are a bad influence on young girls, such as the two that start with the letter “B”, and the other girl…the country singer’s daughter who has her own show…”H.M”.
Love how colorful Groovy Girls are, and also love their pets!
