Make a Statement…Organically.
Every family has their own values that they wish to impart on their children, and there are those that one would hope are universal. At When I Grow Up, those universal values come to light for all to see.
Bing Crosby in “Pennies from Heaven” said…
Owner Kat Henderson asks us to take a quiet moment to remember what life was like when we were children…when we appreciated the sky and congratulated the moon. Then ask ourselves, “What do I value most in my life, what do I want to teach my children?”
When Kat thought about these things, she did more than just think. She created the fantastic value statement tees ($22) at When I Grow Up. Currently there are four designs to choose from and they’re all statements I’d be proud for my child to wear. The tees are all made from 100% certified organic cotton, made in the USA and printed with vividly coloured water-based ink.
They’re simple, they’re adorable, and they make some of the more perfect statements found on t-shirts anywhere. We love our compassion tee and get comments on it whenever my son wears it out. Wouldn’t it be nice to see more children in shirts like this?

Oh, I love “I will . . . walk in someone else’s shoes.” That is a tough choice, because I love the messages on all the Ts. My son isn’t in a 4T just yet, but he would grow into it for next summer.

I like all of them but for my three year old grandson, the I will eat my vegetables is particularly appropriate. His parents include a veggie on his plate at dinner time. Even if it is one that he does not like, he will eat it. (Sometimes the look on his face while he is chewing it is priceless!) He wears a 5T; since it comes in 4T and 6 I guess I would need to order the 6)

Great shirts! My favorite is “I will plant a tree”. Right before my oldest granddaughter started kindergarten, we were working in the yard. She came across a stick with some green leaves on it and asked if she could plant it in the backyard. It’s now about 30′ tall. Everyone should plant a tree.

They’re all beautiful messages, and it’s such a shame that so few children’s items focus on the really important things. While I hope that my child will learn to follow each of the sentiments on these tees (although my vegetarian daughter certainly knows about veggies already!), I feel that “Compassion” is the most challenging to teach and the most difficult for most people to grasp. So, I’d love to win one in 2T for my little girl!

I also love that part of the proceeds goes towards the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network. My dad did not get to see my kids grow up as he died of this disease at age 50, so this cause is close to my heart

I really beleive the “Compassion” sends a great message to the kids. i would prefer a 6t fro my 2-year-old daughter Anegla to usa as a sleep shirt. Telling kids to “walk in someone else’s shoes” tells them that they can be anyone they want to be. Kids will learn respect for all different kinds of people through this shirt. That’s the message I want to send to my daughter. Thanks!
