Flip n’ Flops

By Angela, Contributing Writer

You know that old expression, “Before you criticize someone, walk a mile in his shoes?” Flip ‘n Flops can help your child learn what this means in a practical and fun way.

Flip n’ Flops are actual, wearable flip-flops that have adventure storybooks tucked away in a “secret compartment” of each heel. The message of the books is to help teach kids compassion and empathy – the characters “flip-flop” with each other to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. Your children will quickly discover there are at least two sides to every story.

These $29.99 shoes are designed for children between the ages of 4 and 8 and come in 3 sizes: 10/11, 12/13 and 1/2. Bonus? You can purchase the stories separately ($7.99 each) so you can have up to five different stories! They are uni-sex and come in four colors. The books are tear and water resistant.

Surfer Blue Flip n’ Flops (Dashing Dolphin/Steady Turtle Stories) – Discover different ways to travel! Danny Dolphin likes swimming super fast to get where he’s going and Myrtle Turtle thinks taking it slow is the best way to get to her next destination until they flip flop and give each other’s pace a try.

Purple Poncho Flip n’ Flops (Good Day/Bad Day Stories) – Understand people’s actions! Amy is having a great day being helpful and Liz is having a bad day acting grumpy. I t isn’t until they flip flop that they understand why each other feels the way they do.

Bubble Gum Pink Flip n’ Flops (Sports Star/Book Buster Stories) – Appreciate different interests! Kim wonders why Sophie always has her nose in a book, while Sophie ponders why Kim spends all her time playing sports. Learn how these girls share their interests after flip flopping.

Army Green Flip n’ Flops (New Kid/Neighborhood Kid Stories) - Make new friends! Nate, the neighborhood kid, is busy playing games with his friends and Alex, the new kid, is too shy to say hello. Learn how these two neighbors become friends after they flip flop.

The fifth story is Manners are for Me/Sharing is for Us - Learn to be polite and share! Cara likes things her way and Mia knows what’s hers is hers. Find out how these girls learn the benefits of manners and sharing after they put themselves in each other’s shoes.
