Death of a valued companion…
My laptop? The one that I have lived with for 2 years and which contains my entire life? It is dead.
It was a Dell, and I will never own one again. They run way too hot for regular use. The motherboard melted. I’m coming to you from very limited computer access but will be borrowing a laptop to bring you more reviews & contests starting tomorrow (and am SO thankful I married a geek god who has backed up my entire profile and everything I own to our server so I’ll have everything back as soon as I have a computer!)
Do any of you have a laptop that you love and would recommend? Hate and think I should never buy? I don’t particularly want a mac, though they’re cool. I need something compatible with my work equipment. What do you use? I’m opening the comments on this post for a few days and would welcome your input if your a laptop person!
(Note: Comments are now closed to prevent spam. Thanks for the input and the emails – Hopefully I’ll have a new baby soon! (That is, in addition to the one currently growing in my uterus.)

I have known MANY people with Dell Laptops for paperweights.
I have had a Sony and a Toshiba and I have been happy with both. The Sony lasted 5 years in terribly unfriendly conditions (extreme heat and cold, lots of dust…living in Asia). The Toshiba is 2 years old and still runs like a dream.

I originally bought a Toshiba but returned it and got the Sony Vaio instead. It’s pink and I love it!

I really like my Lenovo ThinkPad. I found it in the outlet part of their store and it was a great deal.

I would recommend tigerdirect.com and/or circuitcity.com and/or as online places to get great deals on laptops. as I was also blessed to marry a computer geek for a husband I am grateful to share that acer makes a great laptop with all the bells and whistles for much cheaper then a name brand (dell, hp, etc). we have purchased 2 acer laptops for family members in the past year and both have performed well. toshiba is also another great brand – that is of course if you don’t want to buy a mac (we only have macs at our house =)
